She writes that she often overhears other quilters saying, 'I love the fabric, but what do I do with it?' I know that I do this and I can't be the only one. It is all too easy to fall for large-scale prints that just don't seem appropriate to use in many projects and they either end up being used as bag linings or left abandoned in a stash. This book offers a very good quilt-based alternative. Sandy cleverly mixes traditional blocks with fairly large areas of pictorial fabric and a little bit of broderie perse appliqué to create some stunning and yet very subtle large-print designs. This is a fantastically simple but very effective way of using up some of those why-did-I-buy-this fabrics and if you have such prints lurking in your stash I would thoroughly recommend this book. --Popular Patchwork Magazine, February 2014 |
